The RMS Instruments' ATB33/34 Test Box automatically tests the GR33A and GR34A series of graphic recorders, as well as a number of their optional modules.

The Test Box functions as a host computer and exercises the recorder through the serial and parallel ports of the unit under test, or through the optional RMS4088 IEEE-488 module.  The ATB33/34 automatically tests all of the programmable commands of the GR33A and GR34A series of recorders.

The single card microcomputer of the Test Box contains software which prompts the user with a series of menus from which a specific test can be selected.  During a test, the status, as well as the results of a test, are displayed on the backlit LCD display, and on the chart itself.

The ATB33/34 generates 32 channels of trace data in a digital format, as well as alphanumeric data, and transmits them via the serial, parallel or optional IEEE-488 interface.  In addition, test patters are transmitted, which provide a means of checking the printing quality and alignment of the recorder printhead.

The Test Box generates analog signals for automatically testing the RMS4185A Analog Input Module.  The module can be tested in the recorder or in the test box.  These dynamic tests individually exercise an analog channel over its full range, while monitoring the other channels at their full sensitivity, thus allowing any cross-talk to be displayed.  Each channel is automatically stepped through and tested.
